Mother Nature cooperated and the Greene County Rams boys golf team managed to squeeze in two tee times last week.
. First up the Ram boys headed out to Lincoln Valley Golf where they earned a fifth place finish with a team score of 346. Top spot went to PCM with a 306; second to Nevada with a 312; South Hamilton came in third with a 338; Roland-Story fourth with a 345; West Marshall took the sixth spot with a 364 and Saydel was seventh with a 371.

Head coach Kyle Kinne said there was some stiff competition at this meet as the Heart of Iowa Conference is filled with quality golfers.
Kinne noted that the Ram boy golfers did not participate in the other scheduled meet last week at Jewell Golf and Country as it conflicted with conference track.
Girls golf – Throughout the golf season for the Greene County Rams Girls Golf team, they have been achieving their goals during meets.
It’s hard to believe but the end of the golf season is approaching as the Ram girls don’t have a tee time scheduled until May 15 as postseason play will begin for the Class 3A Ram girls on that day at Nishna Hills in Atlantic.
Last week the Ram girls started off at Lincoln Valley Golf Course where they placed fifth out of a field of eight teams with a team score of 422. The top spot went to Roland-Story with a team score of 337; Nevada was second with a 345; West Marshall third with a 371; Perry came in fourth with a 409; South Hamilton sixth with a 426, PCM seventh with a 428 and Saydel eighth with a 455.
Scores were: Taylor Johnston, 98, 17th, Maya Telleen, 103, 23rd, Hallie Monthei, 105, 27th, Maggie Mikkelsen, 116, 37th, Alivia Cornell, 132, 41st.
“We did well at conference golf. Our goal was to place fourth and we ended up fifth. Each girl shot her new 18 hole low. Many positives on the day,” head coach Heath Telleen said.
Next up, the Ram girls had a tee time at Jewell Golf and Country where they finished with some solid scores. The overall meet winner was Roland-Story with a 331; West Marshall finished second at 359; South Hamilton came in third with a team score of 412 and Greene County girls took the fourth spot with a 434. Eagle Grove did not score due to only having three golfers.
Results included: Taylor Johnston, 104; Maya Telleen, 107; Hallie Monthei, 108; Maggie Mikkelsen, 122, and Alivia Cornell, 115.
“Wrap up to a busy week. The girls are tired and it will be nice to get some practice in next week before our regional at Atlantic. We play at Nishna Hills,” concluded coach Telleen.
